I design wonderful user experiences on the internet for brands like Walt Disney.
For this photograph, I crammed plastic animals into plastic fences to illustrate the reality that livestock live under on most farms across the country. These tight conditions are mentally, physically, and emotionally unhealthy for animals. They can become stressed from being so confined and close to other animals. There is also a greater threat to humans as the cramped conditions can spread disease more quickly between the animals, which can eventually reach humans.
The idea behind this photograph is the callousness of the fast food industry. A blender blends chickens and pours them out to make chicken nuggets. The image demonstrates the “fast” in the fast food industry. However, this also comments on how “fast” can also mean uncaring, as many careless mistakes are made in the fast food industry.
For this photograph, I tied a ripped-up plastic bag around my neck and the turtle’s neck. The plastic bag represents the reality of plastic choking turtles and other marine animals. It is also tied around my neck to represent how, although the effects of plastic pollution aren’t immediately apparent, there are also consequences for humans.
In this photograph, a rock was placed on top of a flipped turtle. The flipped-over turtle is placed on a red piece of paper with light that is focused around the turtle. This setup mimics a stage with a spotlight on the main subject, while the darkness surrounding it adds a morbid feel. This illustrates how humans often torture and harm animals in the name of entertainment.
The story behind this photograph is how light pollution affects turtles. When baby sea turtles hatch from their eggs, they know which direction to go by using the moon’s brightness. However, with increased coastal cities and light pollution, many baby sea turtles are misguided by the lights in the cities, leading to their demise.

This photo was taken using a reflection of the city in the water. After capturing the image, I flipped the photo to make the reflection seem like the original subject. This flip makes it seem like the buildings in the background and the tree at the center of the image are the same size when, in reality, we know that a tree and building could not be the same size. This is to evoke a sense of curiosity.
This photo was made in black and white to create a higher contrast between the reflections of the trees and the clouds in the sky. The gradient of the clouds draws attention to the center of the piece: the lily pads. The black and white filter accentuates the shadows of the lily pads, creating a strange pattern and a sense of wonder.
The jutting building between the two trees makes it seem like the building is rising out of the trees. This is to convey the message of humanity coming from the wilderness and how urbanization is trampling on nature. This photo is ultimately a call to action for people to preserve our natural world rather than tear it down.
This photo shows a wine glass filled with water, taken with strong backlighting and a macro lens. The strong backlighting makes the water look black, like outer space, creating a boundary between the glass and the air. This boundary serves to create a bubble in which the galaxy is contained. The macro lens was used to zoom in on the little air bubbles, making them look like stars in space.
This photo emphasizes the importance of the basics of photography while also being a parody of still life painting. I took a still life photo of a wine bottle, which is something commonly used when practicing drawing or painting still life.
The black and white filter combined with the meshing of the links creates an interesting pattern that emphasizes depth.
This photo was inspired by a photo of people in prison. That photo was taken outside of a cell with men sitting on a bench outside of the cells. In that photo, a man sitting on the bench was highlighted by the light from a small window, which captured the desolation of the prison. This photo captures that feeling, showing a small ray of light caught in a cage.
